Master’s Degree Candidates:

• General / Unreserved / General-EWS candidates require at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination.
• OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD / PwBD / Third Gender candidates require at least 50% marks.
• Candidates appearing in their Master’s final year or awaiting results may also apply provisionally subject to fulfilment of the prescribed qualification within the allowed period.

Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Candidates:

• Candidates with a 4-year / 8-semester Bachelor’s Degree should have at least 75% aggregate marks or equivalent grade.
• Applicable relaxation in marks is available to eligible reserved categories according to UGC rules.
• Candidates qualifying NET on the basis of a four-year Bachelor’s Degree can become eligible for JRF and admission to Ph.D..
• Such candidates are not eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor solely on the basis of the four-year Bachelor’s Degree route.

• Category 1: Award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor, along with eligibility for Ph.D. admission.
• Category 2: Appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D., but not JRF.
• Category 3: Admission to Ph.D. only, without JRF or Assistant Professor eligibility through that category.

2. Open Challenge of Provisional Answer Keys for UGC-NET June 2026.
3. Click the candidate activity / answer key challenge link.
4. The UGC-NET June 2026 candidate-login page will open.
5. Enter your Application Number.
6. Enter your Password.
7. Fill in the case-sensitive CAPTCHA.
8. Click the Login / Submit button.
9. Open the provisional answer-key / recorded-response section.
10. Check your question paper and recorded responses.
11. Download or save the available records for reference.
12. Compare your responses with the provisional answers.
13. If required, submit an online challenge before the deadline.

1. Log in to the official UGC-NET June 2026 portal.
2. Open the answer-key challenge facility.
3. Check the provisional answer key and recorded responses.
4. Select the question you want to challenge.
5. Select / provide the answer that you believe is correct as permitted by the portal.
6. Upload supporting evidence if the portal asks for it.
7. Review your selected challenge carefully.
8. Pay the prescribed ₹200 processing fee per question.
9. Submit the challenge before 18 August 2026 at 11:59 PM.
10. Save the payment receipt / confirmation for future reference.

• Challenges are accepted only through online mode.
• Challenges sent through email, fax, letter or another mode are not accepted.
• The prescribed processing fee must be paid.
• If a challenge is accepted by subject experts, the correction is applied uniformly to all candidates of that subject.
• Candidates do not need to raise the same valid challenge repeatedly.
• The processing fee is refunded for accepted challenges.
• The answer key finalised after expert review is treated as final.
• No answer-key challenge is entertained after closure of the challenge window or after declaration of the result.
• Individual decisions on each challenge are not separately communicated to candidates.

• Provisional Answer Key: Released first so candidates can check answers and submit objections.
• Recorded Response: Shows the answers recorded for the candidate during the examination.
• Answer Key Challenge: Allows candidates to challenge a provisional answer during the notified window.
• Final Answer Key: Prepared after subject experts examine the challenges.
• Result: Prepared using the final / revised answer key according to NTA rules.

• NTA closes the challenge window.
• Subject-matter experts examine the submitted challenges.
• Accepted challenges are incorporated in the revised answer key.
• The final answer key is prepared.
• Candidate responses are evaluated using the final answer key.
• NTA prepares the UGC-NET June 2026 result.
• Result / score card is subsequently published on the official website.
• Subject and category-wise cut offs are released as applicable.

According to the official marking scheme:

• Correct Answer: +2 Marks
• Incorrect Answer: 0 Mark Deduction
• Unanswered Question: 0 Mark
• Negative Marking: None

Candidates can therefore count the number of correct responses and multiply the total by 2 for a preliminary raw-score estimate. The final result must still be determined by NTA according to the final answer key and applicable normalization procedure where required.

• The Exam City Slip and Answer Key are completely different documents.
• Do not assume the JRF maximum age is 31 years; for this cycle it is 30 years as on 01 June 2026.
• Do not assume four-year Bachelor’s Degree candidates automatically become eligible for Assistant Professor.
• Do not send answer-key challenges through email or post.
