| Why Is UGC NET June 2026 Being Re-Conducted? |
|
NTA received complaints regarding errors in the English, Commerce and Sociology papers. A committee was constituted to examine these complaints.
|
According to NTA, the committee identified problems including:
- Factual errors.
- Typographical errors.
- Translation errors.
- Misspelt names of prominent scholars.
- Garbled book titles.
- Errors in question-stem wording.
- Grammatical errors.
- Gender and number agreement errors.
- Punctuation mistakes.
- Non-standard terms for established concepts.
- Repetition of a significant number of previously administered questions.
|
|
NTA concluded that problems of this extent could not be adequately corrected merely by dropping questions through the answer-key challenge process, and therefore decided to re-conduct all three papers.

| Why This Update Is Important |
|
The June 2026 cycle has an unusual result-processing situation because the main examination was conducted across 87 subjects, but NTA subsequently ordered complete re-conduct of English, Commerce and Sociology. Candidates therefore need to distinguish between the 84 unaffected subjects, whose results can continue to be processed, and the three re-exam subjects, whose examination process continues into September 2026.

- Do not confuse percentage marks with NTA percentile score.
