The National Testing Agency conducts the examination on behalf of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR).

Relaxation is subject to the detailed conditions prescribed in the Information Bulletin, and the total relaxation on the applicable grounds shall not exceed the prescribed maximum.

• General / Unreserved / General-EWS candidates require at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from a recognised University / Institution.
• OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD / PwBD / Third Gender candidates require at least 50% marks.
• Candidates pursuing their Master’s Degree or awaiting the final qualifying result can appear provisionally subject to the conditions of the Information Bulletin.
• Normally, candidates qualifying through the Master’s route must complete the required qualification within the prescribed period after declaration of the NET result.
• Candidates qualifying specifically for Admission to Ph.D. Only have a separate completion period as specified by the Bulletin.

• Minimum Requirement: 75% aggregate marks or equivalent grade.
• Eligible categories may receive 5% relaxation according to UGC rules.
• Candidates qualifying on the basis of a four-year Bachelor’s Degree may become eligible for JRF and admission to Ph.D..
• Such candidates are not eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor merely on the basis of the four-year undergraduate degree route.
• Final-year / final-semester candidates may appear provisionally subject to prescribed conditions.

NTA reported an overall attendance of approximately 79.9% for the June 2026 examination.

• Mode: Computer Based Test
• Question Type: Objective Multiple Choice Questions
• Exam Duration: 180 Minutes / 3 Hours
• The examination consists of Part A, Part B and Part C.
• There is no separate break between the three parts.
• Total Maximum Marks: 200 Marks in every subject.
• Question count, number of questions to be attempted, marks per question and negative marking differ by subject.

• Subject experts verify the paid answer-key challenges.
• If a challenge is found correct, the Answer Key is revised and applied to all applicable candidate responses.
• The Answer Key finalised by the experts after the challenge process is treated as final.
• The result is prepared on the basis of the Final Answer Key.
• Subject-wise negative-marking rules are applied.
• Merit lists are prepared on the basis of candidates’ performance.
• There is no separate cut off for Part A, Part B and Part C.
• Cumulative marks of all parts are considered for drawing the merit list.

The Information Bulletin prescribes these minimum benchmarks for Fellowship and Assistant Professor consideration. Actual subject-wise and category-wise cut offs may be higher and depend on the merit list decided by the Result Committee.

• Joint CSIR-UGC NET can be used as an entrance test for Ph.D. admission in place of separate entrance tests conducted by participating Universities / HEIs.
• The NET marks for Category-2 and Category-3 are valid for one year from the date of declaration of the result for Ph.D. admission.
• NET Written Examination performance carries 70% weightage.
• Interview / Viva-Voce conducted by the concerned University / HEI carries 30% weightage.

2. Open the Latest News / Candidate Activity section.
3. After declaration, click the Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026 Result / Score Card link.
4. The official NTA candidate-result login will open.
5. Enter your Application Number.
6. Enter the requested Password / Date of Birth according to the portal.
7. Enter the security CAPTCHA.
8. Click Login / Submit.
9. Your result / scorecard will appear.
10. Check your subject, score, qualifying category and result status.
11. Download the result / scorecard.
12. Save a copy for certificate, JRF, Ph.D. admission or future academic requirements.

• Keep the password / Date of Birth details used in the application ready.
• Check the official CSIR NET portal regularly.
• Do not rely on unofficial fixed-result-date claims.
• Check the Final Answer Key when published.
• Download the scorecard immediately after declaration.
• Compare your result with the official subject-wise/category-wise cut off when released.
• Preserve the result for future certificate / fellowship processing.

The next step depends upon the category in which the candidate qualifies.

• JRF + Assistant Professor: Candidate can pursue applicable research fellowship opportunities, Assistant Professor eligibility and Ph.D. admission.
• Assistant Professor + Ph.D.: Candidate becomes eligible for Assistant Professor and Ph.D. admission but not JRF.
• Ph.D. Only: Candidate can use the result for Ph.D. admission according to applicable UGC rules but is not qualified for JRF or Assistant Professor on that result category.
• Eligible JRF candidates should follow CSIR / UGC fellowship and institution-joining procedures.
• Candidates should download the applicable certificate / award letter when issued.

• Do not claim that the result has been released before an official NTA result notice appears.
• Do not use 22-23 June 2025 as correction dates; the correct year is 2026.
• Do not describe Joint CSIR-UGC NET as recruitment against a fixed number of vacancies.
• Do not use a single negative-marking rule for all five science subjects.
• Mathematical Sciences Part C has a different negative-marking rule from many other papers.
• Do not apply separate Part A, Part B and Part C cut offs; the Bulletin states that cumulative marks are considered.
• Do not confuse the minimum 33% / 25% benchmark with the actual final subject-wise cut off.
• Do not say every Master’s candidate needs exactly 55%; eligible reserved categories have the prescribed 50% criterion.
• Do not ignore the separate four-year Bachelor’s Degree route.
• Do not enter Application Number and password on an unofficial website.
• Do not use a WhatsApp channel as the official result-download link.
